Positive Coaching Alliance Partner

WSLax, as a member of TYLA, is proud to be a partner with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA).  PCA, a Stanford University based non-profit organization, has worked with hundreds of youth sports organizations around the United States to develop practical tools and guidelines to help youth athletes, their coaches and parents get the most out of sports.  Since PCA's founding, more than 1,100 schools and youth sports organizations across the country have used its techniques to create and maintain a culture of "Honoring the Game."  TYLA is one of three youth sports organizations in North Carolina-and the first in the Triad-to undertake a partnership with PCA.  A grant from US Lacrosse helped support this partnership.

PCA ensures a positive, character building experience for all WSLax athletes, coaches and parents.  We embrace PCA's model of training "Double-Goal Coaches" with winning as one goal and teaching our athletes life lessons as a second, but more important, goal.  Our parents serve as "Second Goal Parents" with their focus on helping their athlete learn those life lessons.

Because of the importance of PCA to the culture of WSLax all parents and coaches are required to participate in a PCA workshop.  Our Spring workshop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010.  There will also be two additional workshops in Greensboro on Saturday, February 27.

Additional information about PCA can be found at: http://positivecoach.org.

Codes of Conduct

All players, parents, and coaches are required to sign a Code of Conduct prior to the start of each season.  A player will not be allowed to play until both he/she has signed a Code of Conduct and his/her parents have also done so.  Players, coaches and parents are expected to treat game officials, referees, opposing teams coaches and parents with respect and to refrain from physical and verbal abuse toward others.

The Codes of Conduct can be found below.
