Fall 2020 Return to Play Protocols

WS LAX Return to Play Plan:

Winston Salem Lacrosse (WS LAX) is committed to offering a fun, safe and healthy environment for youth lacrosse. WS LAX Executive Committee is pleased to be fortunate in offering a modified skills clinic as well as a fall 2020 recreational lacrosse session.  After careful consideration WS LAX believes we are able to utilize our large outdoor facilities in a safe and responsible manner, which will allow us to hold modified, scaled down and safe activities for the fall season.

The training and play day sessions will look a little different and WS LAX wants to provide you with as much information as possible to assure you of both our commitment to being safe, as well as providing quality instruction.

Our fall 2020 recreational session will be four (4) weeks long. We will have one (1) weekday training session and one (1) play day on Saturday mid-mornings per week. This year we will be competing against other WS LAX groups onlyat Fulton YMCA.

As it stands now, we plan to offer all age brackets, but those brackets may be adjusted based on participation.

Fall 2020 Session Details

Depending on your bracket games will generally be held at Fulton YMCA on Saturdays (Unless makeup days become necessary).  The games will generally be a smaller 7 v 7 format, with rotating possessions, therefore no faceoffs will occur.  A continuous running clock of 3/20 min periods with a 5-minute break between periods.

The two (2) main fields at Fulton YMCA will be divided into four (4) smaller fields. These four (4) smaller fields will serve as the Coaches and Players “Bubble”.  Based on Executive Order 163, dated September 1, 2020, outdoor gatherings are now limited to 50 people within an “outdoor space.” Due to the large venue WS LAX is fortunate enough to have four (4) outdoor spaces. Butin an effort to remain safe, we will adhere to 25 players per space and not 50, as currently allowed.

Logistics

You will be provided your players bubble number prior to the beginning of the session. Based on recommendations from the CDC and NCDHHS the following regulations will be in place.

  1. All individuals are asked to remain in their vehicles until no more than 10 minutes before any session begins
  2. Once your player is ready proceed directly to your designated bubble
  3. Wear face coverings while entering/exiting the fields
  4. Once a session begins within these bubbles, no one will be allowed to co-mingle or remain present inside any other bubble both during and after the sessions end.
  5. Maintain social distancing
  6. Bring your own water bottle, which should be labelled and/or maintained in your players bag
  7. No spitting
  8. Players should not share food or drink with others
  9. To reduce the amount of exposure all players will be required to utilize mouthpieces that are attached/strapped to their helmets
  10. At the conclusion of each session everyone is asked to immediately proceed to their vehicles and exit the premises

Training/Games:

Both training sessions and games will all take place within a player’s bubble. A bubble is defined as the players designated field. There will be no common/co-mingled areas available to players or guardians.

Bleachers/Existing Seating:  Bleachers and/or other existing facility seating will not be used and will be roped off.  Spectators will be asked to maintain social distancing guidelines, while observing.

Restrooms: In case of an urgent need, Fulton YMCA will allow individuals to utilize the indoor restroom facility.

Face Coverings

Managers/coaches:  All WS LAX representatives will be required to wear a face covering and use them when in close proximity to non-family members where six feet of separation is not possible.

Players:  Players will not be required to wear face coverings while on the field.  If players choose to wear a face covering/masks, they will be allowed.

Referees:  Referees will be encouraged to wear a face covering, and utilized when six feet of separation is not possible.

Spectators:All individuals present at the facilities are required to adhere to all NC Executive Order parameters as they evolve. Spectators will be limited to one (1) per participant, unless extenuating circumstances exist. Social distancing shall be practiced and masks will be required at all times when social distancing requirements dictate. These safety measures will be most pertinent when individuals enter/exit the facilities and prior to event start times.

Health/Safety

Parent/Player Pre-Play Responsibilities:All spectators and players will be provided a health waiver to sign. The document will spell out the parents/players health responsibilities for the entire session. Prior to each training or play day session all parents/players are expected to conduct a self-health assessment. If a parent or player has recently or currently is experiencing any of the designated health topics, we ask you do not attend or participate in any WS LAX events. For the safety and health of our entire organization we ask you take this point most seriously, as not to jeopardize our WS LAX family.

Sanitation:  There will be trash cans on site however to limit cross exposure WS LAX is asking these receptacles not be used.  We do ask that everyone take their respective items of trash with them as they leave. WS LAX will practice a Zero Footprint policyafter every event, which means there will be no items remaining on the field at the conclusion of the event.

Safety Officer/Board members on duty:  WS LAX will increase the coverage of board members on duty as needed to ensure adherence to safety processes/protocols during practice and competition.

Hand sanitizer:  Hand sanitizer stations will be placed at the entrance and throughout the complex, to encourage frequent hand cleaning.  All coaches, players, and spectators will be asked to use hand sanitizer upon arrival at the facility, and as needed after arrival.

Equipment:  Sharing of equipment between players is highly discouraged. If equipment must be shared, it is required to be sanitized by a coach between uses.

Waiver

Waiver:  ALL families will be required to sign a waiver, in order to educate and protect players and families.  A signed waiver will be required before the first session.  All players/families will be tasked with reading and understanding any rules/regulations set forth prior to entering the facility.

The WS LAX Executive Committee would like you all to know we did not take the consideration to offer these sessions lightly. We feel, with your help, we can provide safe, fun and quality instruction to your family. A link to the waiver will be sent to you separately.

Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions.
